Huge Victory for Workers at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid!

"We are thrilled to announce that workers at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid (MMLA) have voted overwhelmingly to join our union, AFSCME Council 5 - embracing the power of unity and collective action. We proudly welcome more than 130 MMLA workers to our union family, from nearly every corner of our state, from Minneapolis and Saint Paul to Duluth, Willmar, and Mankato! This momentous decision underscores these workers' shared commitment to advocate tirelessly for their colleagues, clients, and communities that they care so deeply about.

"From the outset, these workers have made their priorities clear – they are committed to putting their colleagues, clients, and communities at the forefront of their mission to come together and form a union. Their dedication to solidarity and community exemplifies the true spirit of unionism.

"As we move forward, we are excited for these workers to channel their collective power into meaningful contract negotiations and fight hard at the bargaining table to achieve the necessary workplace changes they deserve. Together, we are confident that MMLA workers will continue their work to secure the best possible outcomes for their coworkers, clients, and the communities they serve. This is the very heart and essence of the union difference: coming together to fight for our shared values and goals.

"The entire AFSCME Council 5 family of more than 43,000 workers congratulates the workers at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid and we are proud to call them our union siblings. MMLA workers will continue to have the complete support of our union."
