Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid Workers Forming Union with AFSCME Council 5!

An overwhelming majority of workers at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid have come together to form a union with the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees (AFSCME) Council 5.

Our union is comprised of all statutorily eligible staff — we are a wall-to-wall union. Our efforts were led by workers from across the state, reaching every office, unit, and job category within our organization.

Workers at Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid fight to ensure that our clients— Minnesotans with disabilities, low-income Minnesotans — have access to dignity and justice in the civil legal system. It is long past time that the workers of Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid are afforded the same basic protections.

Mid-Minnesota Legal Aid management has declined to voluntarily recognize our union — doubting our overwhelming majority support. We look forward to proving our overwhelming majority in an election through the National Labor Relations Board.
